Do you have a child who LOVES books?
Are you looking for a few new books to add to your child’s library?
Who doesn’t LOVE a good book?! Books are the gateway to literature, reading, and language. Exposing children to books early on in their lives aids in their language development. Something as simple as reading to your child will open up a whole world of learning for them!
My love of books
As someone who has their own giant collection of children’s books, I’m here to tell you that your child can NEVER have too many books! Over the 20 years that I taught young children (3 to 6 year olds), I collected SO many children’s books that I have quite the collection! I still have them, even though I am no longer teaching in a classroom. I refuse to part with them; against the wishes of my husband; because they bring back so many awesome memories of children in my classroom over the years. That’s what books do; they bring so much joy and establish memories that stay with you a lifetime!

Happy Reading!
My kids had a lot of those books when they were little.
Hi Laura! There are some really good ones on there!
I love this! While we do have about a third of these books, you have some that I completely forgot about all together! We do a book advent each year with our daughter, so we have a new book to read each night. Definitely made some notes for books to include for next year! Thanks for the list!
Thanks Coree! I definitely tried to have a variety of books on the list!
There are alot of good books in your list. Love it!
Thanks Charlotte!
I’m an elementary teacher, a mom of 2 boys and a book nerd so I know and love many of the books on this list. I also have a page on my site titled Featured Read Alouds month by month and I just compiled a list of December books that are teacher favorites and some of these are on the list, like Moostletoe, The Polar Express and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Thanks for sharing this fabulous list of books. Who doesn’t love books?! 🙂
Thanks Christine! I’ll definitely have to check out your site!
The Old Lady Who…. books are favorites in our house. They always make kids laugh. The sequence in those books is perfect to help with memory skills. We always bring out for different seasons that way children are excited to read them again and don’t get bored with the same books. I love these holiday books. Rachel from Explore Kid Talk.com
This is so fun! My son is just starting to finally get in the holiday spirit and I’m going to have to add some of these books to his collection!
I have quite a few of these in my classroom library, but there are a few on your list I don’t have yet! I’m always on the lookout for new books to add for my students!
Ahh! I love these recommendations! My soon to be three-year-old and I read one Christmas related book each day of December leading up to the 25th. Though we have many of these reads, you have offered more for us to look in to! Thank you!
I love children’s books, and I like that this is a nice mix of old and new. Clifford is great – just a classic. And I really need to purchase a copy of The Polar Express.

LOVE this list!! Don’t have kids yet, but I already want to start reading some of these 🙂 Brings back memories!
Omg I love the Grinch and Polar Express!! Such classics! A lot of these I remember reading as kids in school. Great suggestions for the kiddos!
Looks good. I am seriously racking my brains out thinking of what to give the kids I am babysitting. Thank you for the list. =)
Awww, I love this list you made! It’s wonderful!!
My nephew is crazy about reading and he’s only 3.
Ahh these books bring back memories!
i love snow day and stonky face. i have the first Kwanzaa but the second one looks so pretty with that artwork.
A great idea to have a list of books. Love buying books for my grandkids and this is perfect. Didn’t know that Clifford had so many – he was the first book I bought as a child….Clifford the Big Red Dog (that of course was many….many years ago).
This is a wonderfully comprehensive list of holiday books! My daughter currently loves The Polar Express and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas!
My baby is almost 1 and I need book recommendations. You filled the need. thank you!
This is such a great list of older and newer books for children! I had never read A Snowy Day by Ezra Keats, then we saw that there was an Amazon Prime animation of it released last year, which is fantastic! I have to get a few of these others on your list, they look adorable and fun!
I love the inclusiveness! I will have to add some of these books to my daughter’s bookshelf!
We love holiday books. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one we can read over and over again.
Great list, lots of gems in there.
You are making me wish I was little again… great reads! Thank you!
What a beautiful collection! The holiday book I really remember from childhood is The Gift of the Magi, which still makes me tear up thinking about it.
Books make awesome gifts! The list is fabulous and one can never go wrong with Clifford!
So many wonderful Christmas books! We love “There was a cold woman who swallowed some snow” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” I found a few more to put in our Christmas Eve boxes. Thanks for sharing!
