The essential oil craze

For awhile now, I’m sure you’ve heard tons about the many uses and benefits of essential oils. If you haven’t already joined in on the craze, then you are definitely missing out! There are SO many reasons that essential oils are popular, and why you see them everywhere.

Using essential oils gives you the opportunity to swap out many everyday household items that may contain toxic ingredients. As a Mom, it is important for me to not expose my family unnecessarily to toxins. So that is one of the main reasons why I use essential oils regularly.

What makes Simply Earth so unique?

Simply Earth essential oils are unique in that they are ethically sourced from small farms all around the world! There promise nothing but the best, pure essential oils. Unlike other essential oils brands that may add carrier oils, fragrances or contaminants like pesticides, Simply Earth essential oils are just that, simply from the Earth!

Simply Earth recipes for August

There are some pretty great recipes in this month’s subscription box, but I  know as busy Mama’s, we could all use some hacks on cleaning with ease, so I chose to highlight the Toilet Cleaning Bombs!

How to make the Toilet Cleaning Bombs

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp of dish or castile soap

**Side note, I used dish soap for my bombs**

  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp of citric acid

SUPPLIES:

  • Ice cube tray or mold

**Side note, I used the Simply Earth soap mold from a previous month’s subscription box**

  • a medium sized bowl
  • a small bowl
  • wooden or plastic spoon

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix the soap and the essential oils together in the small bowl.
  2. Set aside.
  3. In the medium bowl, mix the citric acid and baking soda.
  4. Add the soap/essential oil mixture to the citric acid and baking soda.
  5. Stir well.
  6. Press the mixture into the mold.
  7. Your ingredients will expand a bit in your mold. If it overflows, simply scoop it out and into another mold.
  8. Allow your toilet bombs to dry for at least four hours.
  9. When your bombs are dry, remove them from the mold and drop it into the toilet to deodorize and maintain a clean toilet.

These toilet bombs were super easy to make! I made them in less that 5 minutes, and the peppermint scent along with the dish soap smells AMAZING!!!!
