The start of Fall means, goodbye dear Summer

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end…even our dearest Summer. The days of staying up late and hanging outside with family and friends will soon be over. With the ending of Summer, we start looking forward to the cooler days & nights of Fall, along with the welcome of the cozy and warm feelings that Fall brings. I’m an October baby, so it is definitely one of my favorite seasons!

Fall…here’s to fresh beginnings

Fall comes with new beginnings and a fresh start, and it is the perfect time to start a family bucket list of activities and new traditions. These ideas, recipes, and activities will surely bring your family closer as you check things off of your fun Fall to do list!

2. Attend a Fall festival

3. Have a movie night

Find some Fall or Halloween inspired family friendly movies or classic cartoons that you can watch while you cozy up on the sofa for movie night!

4. Apple tasting

There are SO many different apples to choose from. When I was a classroom teacher, I would pick three to four apples for the children in my class to taste and vote on as their favorite. It works best if you choose apples that are pretty distinct in color and taste; for instance a red delicious and a granny smith. Happy apple tasting!

5. Bob for apples

6. Go visit a pumpkin patch

Visiting and being able to pick pumpkins directly from the pumpkin patch is like no other adventure! It is so fun, and most pumpkin patches have other fun family activities as well like hayrides, a corn maze, or a petting zoo! One of my favorite pumpkin patches to visit is Bate’s Nut Farm in Valley Center, California. If you’re in the Southern California area, you definitely want to give them a visit!

7. Cut open a pumpkin and learn about the different parts of it

Get the largest pumpkin you can find and cut it open to examine the different parts of it! Kids love dissecting pumpkins, and getting their hands all gooey with seeds and pulp. Use this time to go over the other parts of the pumpkin as well; the stem, the skin, and the meat.
