My essential oil journey
I was first introduced to essential oils over seven years ago, and began using them immediately thereafter. How to make the Bug Off Roll-On
INGREDIENTS:
- 10 mL of fractionated coconut oil
- 5 drops of Citronella Essential Oil
- 5 drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil
- 5 drops of Camphor Essential Oil
- 5 drops of Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- (edited to add) Peppermint, Camphor and Lemon Eucalyptus also has natural insect repelling properties. You may want to use one of these essential oils in addition to Citronella and the fractionated coconut oil
SUPPLIES:
- roll on bottle
DIRECTIONS:
- Remove the cap of the roll on bottle
- Put the fractionated coconut oil into the roller bottle
- Add in the essential oils
- Replace the cap and shake to mix
- To use, apply to pulse points for a light insect repellant
I can’t wait to try this bug repellant roll-on blend out this Summer! I can’t wait to fight off the bugs and other pests while hanging out at our lake house!
**If you have younger kids, I would recommend playing around with the different combinations of oils. Both Citronella and Lemon Eucalyptus are safe for kids two years and up, while Camphor and Lemongrass are safe for kids ten years and up.**

Pest Potpourri
INGREDIENTS:
- 10 to 15 drops of Citronella Essential Oil
- dried flowers or potpourri
SUPPLIES:
- decorative bowl
DIRECTIONS:
- Gather the dried flowers or potpourri and place in the decorative bowl
- Sprinkle 10 to 15 drops of Citronella over the dried flowers
- Place in any problem area to discourage pests

Bug Away Spray:
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 ounce of Witch Hazel
- 5 drops Citronella Essential Oil
- 5 drops Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
- 5 drops Cedarwood Himalayan Essential Oil
SUPPLIES:
- spray bottle
DIRECTIONS:
- Pour the Witch Hazel into the spray bottle
- Add in the essential oils
- Seal the bottle and shake to mix
- To use: Spray on clothes and skin to keep pests away.

Potpourri gets rid of bugs? AWESOME! And man, citronella has a strong scent so I LOVE the recipe you have that includes other more pleasing scents.
Apparently I have sweet blood so the mosquitoes love me. I can’t say the feeling is mutual. I will definitely try this combination of oils. Do you think this combo would work in a diffuser as well?
